Not very many days left in 2022 as I write this message to you all and write another update from Costa Rica, this the 18th monthly newsletter we’ve sent out since the launching of NOW Costa Rica in September of 2020. I stand in awe that the Lord has given us the privilege to see another year here and count each of you as our blessings. You have mobilized us well and equipped us in all that God has asked us to do so far, and we know bigger things are to come. But it’s exciting to watch it unfold. We see Jaco and Herradura as conquerable towns once infamous for terrible and ungodly things, but now on the horizon of great change. Through you, life is being renewed. Because of your support, women, girls and families are being restored. Thank you!
December has been a blessing month. We have had a great change in weather and the rains have stopped. We’ve been launching many fitness classes, sports ministry and mentor groups even meeting on the beach. Sunsets are back and washed out homes from landslides and floods will not be on the horizon, at least for a while, Lord willing. Thank you to everyone who helped with the disaster relief that hit our area.
Two of our younger girls have been enjoying weekly studies with Brooke and have been able to take their time to the beach. Brooke continues to be an added blessing to our ministry and proving to us time and time again that young, life filled, Godly interns are a huge support. Please pray with us that our new Educational Center will have space for more than one intern and perhaps equip even teams of young people to have a gap year here before or after college as Brooke has so obediently given this community. We are sad she is half way through her time here but we will cherish these next 6 months with her and her students, and we know bigger things are yet to come in this season.
Jordanna finished a pilot season of Revelation Wellness classes with friends and community members, bringing the gospel message and fitness to those in our community. In the new year, there will be more course offerings for classes and proceeds will go to support the building of the educational center. Pray for Jordanna’s ability to teach fitness with God’s word in Spanish.
Before Brooke headed back to the States, she gathered a few of her girls who had been working extra hard for a Christmas party reward. They enjoy their time with her and the bonds are forming. Her volleyball ministry has also proven to be a great success. We are gearing up to relaunch both upon her return early January. Please pray for her stamina and impact in these months to come.
Our boys finished a series with their teacher Cristian and earned a trip to the Amusement park in the city. Of course Pepper and River joined in along with the Pastor of our church and his three sons. It was a great day of fellowship and a long awaited reward for many months of dedication to discipleship and study.
Our family has been working hard to establish funds, procedures, permits and more for the land purchase and construction plans. We have intentionally taken a pause to remember the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. We have gotten to travel within Costa Rica a bit with our pastor and his family and it has proven to be restful and just what we needed. We know we will be needing more stamina in the new year to face all the decisions and efforts pushing for funds in 2023. Please pray for our marriage and our children as we feel busier than ever before, but we know this is all in God’s timing and His will. Pray that we take pauses and heed His direction at all times in this process. We wish you a Merry Christmas and hope that your new year is a blessed one.
We stand in awe at all of the family, friends and community members who have come to our aid in helping to reduce the land debt we have absorbed last month. It was $75k and now we can happily say it is reduced in half from funds given in December alone! To God be the glory! We know if this is the Lord’s will, He will provide and He has done just that. We thank you tremendously and cannot wait to see what 2023 brings for this educational center!
