Brooke Dunn's Mission

"This past year, as a senior in college at Shepherd University, I have been growing and learning a lot in all aspects of my life. I’ve been student-teaching all year long and loving teaching 2nd and 4th grade! I have enjoyed my time studying elementary education and playing varsity volleyball at Shepherd, while also visiting and spending a lot of time with my family. My parents, as newly empty nesters, have been enjoying the freedom of no kids and traveling! My brother is in his first year of school at Purdue University and has picked up volleyball just like his big sister! With graduation coming up in May 2022, I have been praying and fasting to get some clarity on what God’s purpose for my life is after college. I have always felt called to immerse myself in a different country and culture and spread the love of Jesus. So through friends and family fellowship and diving deep into the Word, I have decided to go and serve as a longer term missionary in Costa Rica!"

I will be going to a town right outside of Jaco, Costa Rica called Herradura. I will be working with an organization called NOW Costa Rica (Neighbors Outreach Worldwide Costa Rica) which works to empower women, girls and families to combat the lure of the sex trade by teaching them God’s word. Personally, I will be helping host mission teams, teach bible studies, and provide transportation for discipleship events. I also plan to lead and empower a group of older girls to go on a short term mission trip to a neighboring country. We hope to host more field days, kids’ clubs, and various outreach events each month and as the Lord brings us mission teams. You can read more about the organization at www.nowcr.org. Additionally, I will be attending an immersive language school in order to further reach the people of Costa Rica in their native Spanish language.

In order to fully equip myself to serve and be trained effectively, I will need to raise $1,500 per month or $18,000 for the year.  The best means of supporting this effort is to become a monthly donor to help establish dependable resources for our work and outreach to the families. Anything you can contribute helps! You can set up your online recurring giving clicking the donate button and select Brooke Dunn's Mission.  Of course, the power of prayer is also invaluable.  I will be sending out monthly newsletters seeking prayer and updating you on our efforts.  To receive updates please email: badunnvb@gmail.com.

Thank you so much for the impact you’ve had and for the presence you’ve been in my life. Thank you also for your consideration and prayers. You can follow my journey on Facebook, but I will also send monthly newsletters. If you do decide to support me in this way, I will send another letter upon my return to update you on how God has moved in that year.  I hope to reach the people of Costa Rica with the love of Jesus, learn more about Costa Rican culture, and further my own relationship with Jesus along with the girls that I will be working with. I believe God is working in the women and families of Costa Rica, and I am so excited to serve them and God in this beautiful country in the coming year.
