2025: December

Happy NEW YEAR’S EVE!

We hope this finds you well and that this year comes to a close for you with a peace that only Jesus can provide.  As we anticipate all that 2026 may bring, we look back on this year grateful and with joy in our hearts for the support of so many of you donors! We could not do this work without you.  And to our faithful prayer warriors, thank you for praying for our girls, families, moms and boys by name often.  It’s the power of prayer and the eternal perspective that we are ever mindful of.  December has been a very full month!

We started the month with a blessing of our Multiuso Space.  We invited all our students, their parents and several members from Horizon Church, along with the builders and engineers to come shower the space with prayer.  We enjoyed local food prepared by several of the mothers and heard testimonies from girls, moms and teachers who have worked alongside us for many years now.  We concluded our time with some basketball drills and the children simply delighted in the space that the Lord has provided.  Pastor Daniel Barrett and his family attend and continue to be of great support to our ministry.  We are forever thankful for their mentorship.

Windsor and River were in several musicals and Christmas services.  They are doing well in their studies.  River will enter Horizon International School for the latter half of 5th grade on January 7th.  Our homeschooling journey over the past two years has been much needed for him, but we are prayerfully expectant that he’s ready at age 10 to adjust back to traditional schooling.  He’s a bit apprehensive but we know the Lord has made a way for this decision.  We ask for your prayers as he makes this adjustment.  Our children are our first ministry and we love them dearly.  Making decisions about schooling in another country have taken priorities in our prayer lives over the years, and of course will likely continue to do so, but we are hopeful this is where the Lord wants sweet River.  He has a servant heart and loves helping mission teams.  We pray we can make a way for him to continue to do so while in traditional school.  Windsor loves 2nd grade and has thrived in her musicals and performances.

Our boys classes continued through to the end of the calendar year ending Dec 21 and our girl’s classes ended the day prior.  After 12 consecutive Saturdays, our girls were awarded certificates for good attendance and hard work this trimester.  We did this to provide some closure for the students and teachers of the girls group, seeing as our girls classes will pause for a season while construction is underway.  Our boys classes occur on Sunday afternoons, a non-construction day, so they will carry on for another trimester and receive their certificates in March.  We are excited to welcome a team Jan 28th who will help us break ground on the Stage Project which will have added storage for tables and chairs as well as a large classroom.  We are hopeful the construction will only take 6-8 weeks and then the girls classes will resume.  While we miss seeing the girls for a few months, we are excited to have more space to enjoy in the near future!

One of our star students and now a translator, had a birthday in the month of December.  Amanda started with us at just age 8 in 2020, the year she made the commitment to get baptized!  Now she’s 14, on fire for Jesus, thriving in school and translating for mission teams!  She will enter the 9th grade in February when the new school year starts.  Please pray for her as she mentors other young girls in our program.  It’s amazing to see the power local girls have over their peers and younger ones.  We love this model for ministry as we can see the ripple effect.  God is so good to provide such dedicated, transformed girls to support His work here!

Amanda actually translated for the first time for a mission team that arrived on Dec 26th from Cedar Street Baptist Church in Metter, GA.  This team, led by the lovely Tamara Hutson, hit it out of the park coming prepared to do a 3 day long VBS for fifty girls ages 5-14 years old.  Each and every girl felt special, seen and loved.  They brought so many fun resources to delight in fellowship and strengthen their faith walk with Jesus.  It was wonderful to be a part of.  This team also served burritos to addicts in the streets, helped with a Christmas feeding event for 400 children in the shanti town neighborhood and taught Sunday school at Horizon Church.  We are so thankful for their partnership and hard work.

We are so thankful for each and every one of you reading this newsletter.  Sometimes we wonder how many actually make it to the end of reading each of these.  We write them from the heart to you, knowing that this is all from the Lord, this ministry, these resources, this vision.  Thank you for being a part of making change here for the Kingdom.  It’s an honor to partner with you.  May the Lord bless you and keep you.  May 2026 bring you more joy and contentment.

Sincerely,

Jordanna, fam & team
