Greetings and Happy Summer! As we write this on Memorial Day we remember all the fallen soldiers who have given us the freedom to serve, live, travel and minister overseas. It’s such a blessing for our children to grow up on mission in another country, but also stay connected through their father’s work with Freedom Alliance about the importance of those who give their lives for our freedom. We hope you are enjoying your weekend of freedom given to us by many who fought for our liberties and for the reminder of the ultimate sacrifice made on the cross for our salvation. What a glorious day that will be when we rejoice together in the heavens!
Our discipleship classes have been in full swing this month and activities will wrap up just a week before Jordanna and the kids board their flight to Virginia mid June. The younger girls group finished Every Young Woman’s Battle, a gospel lens reproductive health study, while our older girls finished up a unit on the book of John and English classes. Twelve of the 25 girls qualified in their attendance and hard work to attend a rewards day next Saturday with our dear friends Jami & Leah Carneal. They will be here ministering alongside us May 29 - June 4th. Nancy Baughan and family of Mt. Zion Baptist sponsored the Fun Day for us by covering the cost of entry to the park along with lunch for us all. What a blessing it is to have the hands and feet on the ground as well as support from back home to show these girls their hard work pays off.
We now have several big trees on our property and have been eager to get some large swings to hang from them, where several girls can climb on to enjoy. Swinging is so freeing at times. Most of our girls do not have backyards, let alone swings. We are so thankful to Stan Earle and family for sponsoring the purchase of a swing and white board for future classes! Thank you so much!
Our boys group is still gathering on Fridays at 4pm. We covet your prayers for all the discipleship groups, that the Lord will speak to those who have not yet been saved. That more baptisms will come in the fall for our new students and that the gospel will be clear and accessible to all our students and their families.
River and Windsor have been doing well and eagerly awaiting our return trip to the States. River has been enjoying his time volunteering at a local child care facility in the babies class. This helps his ever growing Spanish fluency and translation skills. He also has been enjoying a few soccer games and piano lessons. Windsor too is learning piano. Here she is with her teacher’s daughter, Naima. We hope to see some performances in the future. It will be really sweet to have her Virginia piano teacher, Mrs. Jami Carneal, here in person to meet her Costa Rican piano teacher! We are reminded often of the Lord’s provision for our children and their developing skills in Spanish, music and beyond. This last week of May wasn’t without sickness. River brought home the flu two weeks ago which spread to Windsor. We are thankful for our pets on sick snuggly days and for a comfortable home of our own to hunker down in when illness comes. We ask you to continue to pray for Jordanna’s health. While she has more good days than bad, the chronic mono flares itself more frequently than we had hoped. We know God will help the family persevere, especially in this time as we see great progress on the land for future projects!
Phase one of the Multiuso project is complete, the lower retaining wall and the land foundational preparation. In September we will welcome a team from Howerton’s Baptist Church who will assist us in breaking ground on the Kitchen, bathroom and Intern rooms building. This will be extremely helpful for feeding the students and allowing a few rooms for emergency shelter, interns or students on scholarship to sleep outside of our home. River and Windsor are still sharing a room and as River approaches age 10, we realize that our guest bedroom needs to become his bedroom so the timing of this extra sleeping space will serve well for upcoming ministry and hosting of supporters. We are praying that in the new year, 2025, we may have enough funds for the sports portion of the mulituso project to commence. We still need just over $100,000 for that project to meet its goal financially. If you or anyone you know, would like to make a direct contribution to this project, please email Jordanna at jordannaailor@gmail.com. This space will provide our students a reliable building to learn along with space for recreation and sport. We have seen the community truly respond positively to the attraction of basketball, volleyball and English classes. We plan to continue partnering these programs with bible studies and reproductive health education. This powerful combo can truly continue helping these vulnerable teens and families combat the lure of the sex trade just 5 miles down the road in Jaco. Your investment is far reaching and we thank you!
Lastly, we appreciate your prayers surrounding our Summer Visit. Take a look below at our itinerary and pray alongside us, or better yet, join us for support at one of the speaking engagements. Invite a friend, help bring a dessert to one of our functions and share our website on social media. We have seen the power of the Body of Christ networking for our future. Thanks for stepping up. You each have value in our world.
