2026: February

What a full month we have had here on the ground both in ministry and construction life! At times it’s hard to capture all that the Lord is doing in just four weeks in one monthly newsletter, but we above all, give glory to God.  This has been His land, His ministry and this work is for His people so we hope this finds you well and brings a painted picture to mind of all that is happening in Herrardura, Costa Rica.

We started off the month finishing with our second mission team from Cedar Street Baptist Church who helped with funding and labor to lay the foundation for the Stage Project.  This stage will give us the platform we need to use to preach more clearly the gospel message, to have praise and worship and to allow for better instruction overall with clear audio and visual support.  We are very thankful that this team has continued to remain invested in meeting the needs of this project as we still aim to meet another $11,000 even as I’m writing this message.  The second floor will host a series of classrooms for breakout groups, technology supported teaching and more.  Little by little, the Lord has made a way and we are optimistic that by the end of March, we may have the rest of the funding we need!  Will you pray over that $11,000 with us?

This team from Georgia visited families in the village community, served at a local drug and alcohol addiction facility, taught our students various lessons and got their hands dirty alongside our construction workers.  It was a true blessing to see hearts connected over the work in the name of Jesus.

Meanwhile, Windsor and River have been plugging along in their schooling and extracurriculars.  They are always sad to see mission teams leave but it does allow our family a bit more structure for every day routines, which are important as we continue to seek God’s will for their lives as missionary kids.  Here is Windsor with her classmates in Awana.  She will finish up the school year in a few months as a Sparks student and enter T&T in the fall.  We know having them in Christian school, Awana and church will aid them greatly in their faith journey but we also covet your prayers as they navigate the day-to-day of life here.  River is thriving on his basketball team.  He travels often for competitions and loves being a part of a team sport.

Jordanna and Windsor paid a wonderful visit to long time supporters Greta and John Dunn in Florida.  Their daughter Brooke served faithfully for one year as an intern here in Costa Rica several years ago.  She became like a sister to Windsor and it was delightful to connect with them once again for some much needed rest and fellowship!

Upon their return from Florida, the Ailors welcomed Tom Saunders from Piney River, VA for a visit.  Tom worked diligently last summer to raise nearly all the funds needed to construct the mulituso via his Wild Beast Feast Auction and dinner.  It was a joy to show Tom around our community, to meet some of the local women we partner with and to enable him to see the joy of the children’s free play and fellowship under the roof of the new Multiuso.  He provided some teaching in Spanish to the students and brought great joy to River.  Tom has become quite a mentor to River through hunting.  We’re thankful we get to see Tom each time we visit Pepper’s parents in the Shenandoah Valley.  The Lord has given us yet another faithful servant to help us see this vision through and for that we are rejoicing!

Our girls and boys continue to come for classes on the property be it weekly or when visitors and mission teams come.  Our boys class will finish in another 6 weeks time and have a camp out rewards day at Horizon Church’s Finca.  We’re excited to partner with them as we teach this generation how to avoid the street life that has pulled so many addicts into substance abuse locally.  But praise God that now those men at the Finca are seeing redemption and a new life in Christ!  Several mothers and teachers gathered last week to make prayer boards with one of our council members, Andrea.  This time was filled with scripture, understanding the power of prayer and more.  Women walked away with a prayer board they could post on their walls to record both current prayers and answered prayers and a beautiful new bible.

We are constantly reminded that this work takes an army.  The battle is real and it’s not against flesh and blood as we read about in Ephesians six, but against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil.  We can clearly see the men, women, families and churches that the Lord has mobilized alongside us to face these battles and we’re forever thankful.  If you or anyone you know would like to host a zoom call in your living room for an hour over coffee with neighbors, friends or folks from a bible study, please let Jordanna know.  Through awareness of human trafficking both locally here, where sex tourism is a hub, but globally and all around us, we can make a difference one step at a time, united!
