2025: June

We arrived in Virginia and brought high temperatures with us, which for us feels like home, but we know it limits a lot of outdoor activities beside the pool and splash pad, both of which we’ve thoroughly enjoyed!  As we exit air conditioned facilities we find our toes thawing like we’re being wrapped in a warm electric blanket.  Just today I was asked what the temperatures were like where we live in Jaco, to which I responded, JUST like today’s temperatures.  While the weather may feel very similar, all the amenities, amazon orders, walmart trips, electric car rides and western amenities are all new to us again.  The children are adjusting well and we’ve been so delighted to see familiar friends and family this past week in Tappahannock.

The month of June ended strong with a mission team from a church in the Goochland, VA area called The Porch.  We’ve had the privilege of worshiping with them in Goochland two summers in a row and shared about how the Lord is moving in Herradura, but were delighted that this month, they were able to send a 12-person mission team.

We were blessed to have this team show up and execute an amazing day of VBS for our students along with wonderful support for homeless ministry & erosion prevention work on our property with a donation of plants!

Just a few days after The Porch team departed, two women and their kids from Tappahannock came to serve alongside us.  Jaime Gomes of The Mother’s Heart (rural prenatal center ministry) and Casey Weymouth of The Fix (Addiction recovery ministry) spent time teaching our girls about health and wellness, planted more trees on our property for our girls to have fruit in the near future and taught at two partner ministries in Jaco, Beautiful Feet International and Finca de Esperanza.

River finished a year of 4th grade home school, another season of soccer.  Windsor turned 7 years old and had a few, delightful small gatherings of friends.  Each child is growing in their knowledge of the Lord and faithful in their own unique ways to serve on mission. Both kids miss their doggies and their dad, but we’re happy Pepper arrives for a few weeks this Sunday to spend some quality time with family and do a few road trips with us in July!

Please be in prayer for our upcoming events and let us know if we can hope to see you there!
