We hope this letter finds you in good spirits, content with the place the Lord has you this season. We are thankful to be in Costa Rica for another fall season, but we do miss the crisp leaves, fresh cool winds, and the sentiments of gearing up for the holidays with family nearby. But, we were so fortunate to have started the month of October in Florida with my mother, aka “Nana”. We’re thankful she’s able to visit us here and for our annual visits to VA, but this trip was extra special time, just the five of us. The grandchildren felt very loved and enjoyed the Stateside visit. Goodbyes NEVER get any easier, but we hope she will come for a visit in the spring. We are sad to not be with family for the upcoming holidays, but are praying about a Fall 2025 trip should the Lord allow.
We did have fun at “Family Fun Day” at Pequenos Angelitos, a local day care where both of our children attended in their younger ages and where River still volunteers twice a week in the babies’ class. Windsor spends school breaks there as well and we love how caring all the teachers are there. If it weren’t for Pequenos Angelitos, our children would not be fluent in Spanish today. We owe them a lot for the nurture, care and education of our children so we are always delighted to participate in their fun, cultural days. The children loved the electric bull riding, too!
We celebrated Kerlys 40th birthday this month and Pepper treated her to a family photo session. Kerly has been working with us since the beginning, preparing meals for students, mission teams and helping our family learn about cultural norms here in Costa Rica. We’re delighted to spend another year ministering alongside her.
We continue to have weekends full with her girls and our sweet with Chanel. Chanel is doing well in her bible memory verses and her tutoring sessions with Jordanna. She will graduate fourth grade at the end of this year and we are proud of her fluency in English. The Lord is using Chanel in a mighty way!
This past weekend we hosted a Coffee & Awareness Session on our property for expats in the area, church members and locals who have expressed interest or supported us along this journey of buying land, building and ministering to girls and families in Herradura. We were so blessed to receive abundant affirmations and prayers, encouragement and continued support. We hope to continue sharing with the community here on the ground the Mighty things the Lord is doing through NOW Costa Rica.
The Casita is nearly done! We have been blessed with a lower than average rainfall this month and the workers have been able to work consistently each day on construction. We are always amazed at how fast buildings can go up, both with the amazing support financially back home and the hard work and dedication of the construction workers here on the ground. We are so very close to getting the last funds we need for the project to be complete.
We continue to bring women, girls and children to church on Sundays and are so thankful for Horizon church’s capacity to help disciple alongside these families. Several students are attending youth group, trek & awana as well. Here is a photo of the van ride today, with a new niece born to one of our students. Her older sister delivered a baby 3 weeks ago with the help of Beautiful Feet International’s Prenatal Center, mother and baby are doing well. In the picture below grandma was holding baby Lya Zayie. This family just moved to Costa Rica from Nicaragua in January. We are thankful for new life, their connection to our ministry and to the church as they navigate how to live a Godly life in Herradura.
Thank you for your care for each and every family in our ministry. We share their names with you knowing that you are praying for them by name. We feel as though we’re on the brink of great and mighty things, in the Lord’s timing of course, but with so much awe as bit by bit, the plan is unfolding.
We seek prayers for these areas:Curriculum Writing Retreat: Oct 30 - Nov 5, led by Nancy Dillingham
Mission Team from Virginia: Nov 6 - 12, focusing on bunk bed projects, street ministry, homeless feeding and more.
Continued prayers for Jordanna’s health as she works to find balance in nutrition, rest, cleanses and managing motherhood and missions.
A quiet holiday season in the field for the Ailors, that the Lord will bring joy, friendship, calm and peace in the home and that progres carry on in a mighty way for the Multiuso Project
For future sponsorships for upcoming builds, mission teams the Lord wants serving here and health for all involved.
