Greetings and happy almost end to summer!
We hope you’re soaking in the last of the summer days in bliss. We very much enjoyed our American summer in Virginia and have just returned back to Costa Rica. Thank you to all of our supporters who continuously give to ensure our support raising trips and visits with family are fruitful!
We were able to celebrate the 4th of July in America by raising Nana’s flag, seeing fireworks with friends and family and enjoying steamed, spiced crabs outdoors! Sweet corn, summer tomatoes, popsicles on the swing and lots of swimming made for a wonderful time! Our Tappahannock, Manassas and Waynesboro friends have shown us great love in continued friendship and support.
Jordanna was able to return to speak at both services of Manassas Baptist Church, sharing the gospel in the sermon slot and updating the congregations about our work in Costa Rica. It had been nearly 5 years since the Ailor family had announced their decision to move overseas, bidding farewell to many middle and high schoolers in the youth program where Jordanna had been working. It was wonderful to reunite with several and see friends old and new. Many have gone off to college, and even two from the youth group recently became engaged! God is so good! I loved my time seeing them all!
Our Beale family and church friends continue to remain a big part of ministry. River was able to spend time with his old babysitter and her children. She is now the Children’s director at Beale Memorial Baptist Church. Here you can see a picture of River and friends at age 2 and now at age 9. How wonderful to see them grow in grace as they grow in age! The children were able to hold their tutoring and piano sessions at Beale and even enjoyed many of the local library events. We are forever thankful for our Tappahannock community and are excited to have teams coming in September, November, May & August. God is on the move!
Pepper was able to join us mid July for some fun in the sun, visit with family and a week at Eagle Eyrie’s Missions Camp. We cherished our time with cousins, grandparents and delighted in all things western culture like movie theaters, water parks, state fairs, chipotle, Chick Fil A and more. We stocked up at Target, Walmart & Amazon for another year’s worth of items we’ll need in Costa Rica. We hope to return again next summer and will certainly keep Missions Camp on the schedule. The children attended sessions about missions, packed meals for Haiti, worshiped nightly with the family, ate delicious meals in the dining hall and made life-long friends. Pepper and Jordanna were key-note speakers for various sessions and were honored to be able to share about NOW Costa Rica and Freedom Alliance.
Pepper and Jordanna celebrated their 11th anniversary the one day in between camp and flying back to CR. What a joy it was to reflect upon the decade past and pray and plan for all God has in store for the coming year. We flew a direct red-eye back on the 27th and landed safe and sound in Herradura. We have a few weeks to adjust back before hitting the ground running with school, missions teams and more. Please be in prayer as we transition, that we will stay healthy and the children will be eager to carry on living this life overseas. Please pray against skin conditions River seems to have, Windsors apprehension towards 1st grade and Jordanna’s ongoing prayers for health and wellness in dealing with chronic Mono. We know Who is on the throne and take comfort in seeing Him hold each future day in His hands.
Pray for our Teams Coming
Aug 9th - Brennan family coming to teach swimming, soap making & bless mothers in Cristo Rey on Costa Rican Mother’s Day August 15th. Pray for great impact as we navigate our first Family Mission Team with my dear college friend and her husband & children!
Sept 8th - Howerton’s Baptist Church team coming to launch the first build on the property. A building with two bathrooms, a kitchen and two bedrooms for urgent shelter for girls and supporters from the US. This team will also help Horizon International School, feed the homeless in Jaco & hold a youth rally for our teens.
Nov 1 - Kevin James and his team from The Porch in Goochland will come to hold a VBS for all our students and community. This team is a family missions team coming with musical talent and more.
Nov 6th - Hutt Williams and his team from the Warsaw area will come to launch a bunk bed project, where students in low lying areas near the river will be blessed with bunks. This will enable higher ground inside the home for when flood season hits and affects families so routinely. They will also feed the homeless, minister at the prenatal center and more!
We have teams hoping to come in January, May, August & September of 2025 and possibly more. We aim to have 4-6 teams per year as we recognize our limited staffing and capabilities but we are so thankful for the progress we see through each of these partner churches and groups!
Please pray for our Multiuso Fund. If you or your community are willing to hold a virtual info session or you’re willing to be equipped to talk about our work, we are happy to raise up advocates who can spread the word of how this facility will continue to reach the next generation, raising up a community ready to combat the lure of the sex trade in our area. Through you, we can make a difference. Thanks for caring about our girls and their families. Please share this video on all platforms. We recognize those of you reading this to the end are great networkers for us. We’d love to see this on your news feed and other portals. You never know who God will use to bring his plan to fruition here.
Blessings,
Jordanna
