June Update
What a joyous time we had in the States visiting family, friends and church communities. A shout out to Smyrna Christian Church, Salem Baptist Church, Mt. Zion Baptist, Manassas Baptist, Fairfax Circle Church & Beale Memorial Baptist for hosting Jordanna as she shared updates with your congregations. We have seen a great response to meet the current needs for our work in Costa Rica and we praise God for every dollar and prayer. We continue to be amazed by the generosity of Virginians who have given countless times to our girls, mothers and their families. We flew back with 8 suitcases full of VBS materials, bibles, and devotionals all fully funded. Thanks for playing your part!
The day after arriving back, several of the girls, moms and church leaders surprised Jordanna with a 40th birthday/welcome back party. A beautiful cake, yummy local cuisine and a bouquet of flowers was awaiting her as she dawned the church doors once again. How sweet it was to be remembered and missed. These moments fuel the ongoing work we’re committed to doing. Thank you friends of Horizon Church and all of our NOW Costa Rica girls for surprising the Ailor Fam!
June has been a month of transitions. We successfully submitted our residency paperwork, are gearing up for language school and have a waitlist of folks wanting to come and do missions alongside us. Please pray for River and Jordanna as they embark June 28th on a 6-week language intensive course in San Jose, the capital city. Thank you to Howerton’s Baptist Church for contributing to a large portion of the funds needed for this experience. Please pray for Pepper as he stays home with now-three-year-old Windsor girl, managing his work load and the ministry demands while Jordanna is gone. Youth group will carry on, church van trips as well each Sunday. Discipleship is a long process and we are forever thankful to walk alongside those God has brought our way, even as we dive deep into language school.
Please pray for Lucia and Sofia, two of our older girls who we are sponsoring to go to Young Life Camp in Georgia next month. Thank you to several supporters who stepped up to nearly fully fund these two girls’ airfare, camp expenses and travel expenses. Each girl is just $283 shy of being fully funded. If you want to help Lucia or Sofia meet that need, please donate online and specify in the comments the donation is for camp for one of the girls. They are leaders in our group and the other girls look up to them so much. We are thankful for this opportunity for them to travel alongside the Horizon Church Staff and appreciate Alicia and Todd Yancey so much. We know they will encounter life change while at camp in July. Thank you for praying for them by name.
The Ailor family would love your prayers as we continue to open our home to local girls, women and families. Our MK (Missionary Kid) Mom’s group is revving back up, plans for a larger launch of the Birds, the Bees and Jesus will go forth in August and lots of family/friends are coming to visit in the latter half of 2021. Plans for mission teams to come in 2022 are also underway. Pray that we forge ahead with energy and passion and do not grow weary of doing what is good. This work is such an honor and privilege and we often cling to your prayers and support when tired and weary. We know the same power that rose Jesus from the dead is in us and doing this Kingdom Work. Pray we remember that every moment of every day.
